Description: Offers a 6-12 month online program that educates and trains students throughout California who want to begin a new career as a Registered/Certified Substance Use/Addiction Counselor. Classes and communication are offered virtually, and additional in-person support is available for local Sacramento students if needed. Scholarships may be available through the Department of Rehabilitation for students who are facing a barrier to employment. Barriers include mental or physical illness diagnosis (including prior addiction). The DOR will also assist those who were recently released from a correctional facility as well. Individuals can enroll in the DOR services on their website, www.DOR.ca.gov to see if they qualify for a scholarship.

Eligibility: Individuals who are interested in becoming a registered/certified substance use/addiction counselor. The academy accepts formerly incarcerated individuals and PC290s into the program.
