MOBILE INTERVENTION SERVICES TEAM, CITY OF EUREKA

Did this help?

  • Description: Implemented in early 2015, the Mobile Intervention and Services Team (MIST) works with people who are homeless and need help stabilizing their mental illness and securing the services and assistance they need to avoid further problems. MIST was the first step in a series of planned, evidence-based interventions that allow the Sheriffs Officw and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) attempt to provide the best possible solutions for people who need help and reduce the social disorder that is often associated with some segments of the homeless population. A DHHS mental health clinician is teamed with an officer in the field to make initial contact with individuals in the target population and provide assistance. A case manager also works with clients to provide follow up care and connect them to necessary services such as outpatient mental health counseling, medication support, alcohol and other drug services, housing or shelter, and linkage to medical and nutrition services.
