Description: Offers therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults with neurological, emotional, and physical disabilities. The program's goal ranges from person to person and strives to achieve an increase in balance and control, improved language and socialization skills, and enhanced self-esteem.Each rider receives a supervised riding session that incorporates physical therapy specifically designed for that individual. All riders must have their physician's consent. Children receive a clinical evaluation at the arena to determine if the program will be beneficial.
Hours: Riding Times:Thursday 9:30 am - noon;Saturday 10 am - 1 pm
Eligibility: Special needs individuals aged 2 and older.The types of disabilities and conditions served include:- Autism- Brain Injuries- Cerebrovascular Accident/Stroke- Cerebral Palsy- Down Syndrome- Emotional Disabilities- Learning Disabilities- Muscular Dystrophy- Post Polio Spina Bifida- Sensory Processing Disorders - Spinal Cord InjuriesBefore participating in therapeutic horseback riding activities, individuals need to consult with their physicians. Each prospective rider is required to present a complete medical history and physician's statement signed by their physician prior to a therapeutic riding session.
Requirements: Release from doctor and insurance card.
