Description: Registers voters, maintains current and accurate voter files, and conducts Federal, State, County, and City elections within Sacramento County. Voter Registration cards are available at area DMV and branch County Human Assistance offices.Individuals can register to vote or check their voter registration status online at www.registertovote.ca.gov. Voters must re-register when they move, change a name or change political party affiliation. To be eligible to vote in an upcoming election, a Voter Registration Form must be submitted online by midnight no later than 15 days before that election or must be mailed and postmarked no later than 15 days before that election. If individuals miss the deadline to register, they may still vote under Conditional Voter Registration. Please note: California residents do not need to request an absentee ballot. All active and registered voters will be mailed a ballot beginning October 5th when there is an election (Primary, General, Special District, etc.).
Eligibility: Individuals must meet the following criteria to register:. They are a United States citizen. They are a resident of California. They are at least 18 years of age (or will be by the date of the next election). They are not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony. They have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote
