ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES (APS), SANTA BARBARA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES (DSS)

Description:
Responds to reports of neglect or abuse of older adults and people with disabilities. Neglect may include neglect by another, and/or self-neglect. Abuse may include financial, physical, sexual, or psychological abuse by another. APS social workers are on call 24 hours a day to assist those suffering from neglect or abuse.

If abuse is taking place in a licensed residential or long-term care facility, call the Long-Term Care Ombudsman.

Eligibility: Suspected abuse or neglect must be related to seniors (age 60 and older) or dependent adults (age 18-64).
