Description: Links volunteer pilots and commercial airlines with people whose non-emergency health needs require air transportation to access care. On the ground, volunteer drivers ferry passengers to and from their departure and destination airports.Accepts requests from health care professionals such as social workers and physicians. Hours: Office: Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Eligibility: Flights are available for passengers who can't afford airline tickets, or for whom traveling by land or by commercial airline would pose a physical hardship. Other viable flight situations include passengers with compromised immune systems or who live in remote areas without access to commercial transportation. In some cases, Angel Flight West can also arrange flights for organ transplants - for the organ recipient, organ donor, and for the organs themselves.For safety reasons, they do not fly women who are over five months pregnant or women with high-risk pregnancies.Passengers must be medically stable, able to walk, fly in a non-pressurized plane, and be able to sit up in a seat with a seatbelt fastened around them. Angel Flight West will need a medical release from a physician before a trip will be conducted.
